DescriptionJoin us for ‘Inspired by: Paul Chan’, the latest in the series of print workshops exploring the Middlesbrough Collection at MIMA. Led by Janice Downs, artist and Senior Print Technician at Teesside University, the day-long workshop takes inspiration from New York artist Paul Chan’s bold works on paper that bring together visual art and music. You will learn print techniques such as embossing and chine-collé to build playful artworks. You will create collage prints focusing on transparent and opaque layers using presses in Teesside University’s print studio. Building on observations of Chan’s works, you will be invited to think about how the viewer experiences communication, composition and music in your finished artworks.
