Tees Valley Sport is one of forty nine County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) in England.

A County Sports Partnership, or CSP for short, is a partnership of agencies committed to providing a high quality system for people to benefit from sport and physical activity.

The Partnership comprises of five local authority districts - Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees - national governing bodies of sport, Sport England, sports coach UK, equity partners and further and higher education.

Our mission is "to improve the quality of life of all residents in the Tees Valley by increasing participation in sport and physical activity."

This vision is supported and developed by our core values which are to:

  • Promote the principles of child welfare
  • Provide leadership and action to address inequalities and promote inclusion
  • Value our workforce and our partners
  • Celebrate the value of sport and physical activity as an enjoyable and positive life choice

Our Delivery Plan and the Core Specification Interpretation Guide for 2011 - 2012 are attached below.

Sport and physical activity is seen as enriching people's quality of life in the Tees Valley by playing its part in building stronger, safer communities, strengthening the economy and developing the skills of local people; meeting the needs of children and young people and reducing inequalities in health. In addition to improving quality of life, the partnership's activities are also seen as contributing to the development of individuals to world class levels of performance.

To do this we have identified a number of key outcomes which we believe are central to achieving the purpose of the Partnership;

Participation in sport and physical activity
Increasing the number of people participating in a high quality experience that encourages all individuals to start and sustain participation in sport and physical activity, achieving their personal goals.

Infrastructure: Investment in people
Ensuring that the Tees Valley supports and develops new and existing professional officers and volunteers who deliver sport and physical activity. This will ensure that the Tees Valley has the people needed to support and grow local sports opportunities.

Infrastructure: Programmes
The principles of excellence and equality of opportunity will underpin our programmes of innovative and attractive activities, increasing participation and raising the profile of the Tees Valley.

Infrastructure: Places
Access to, and the coordination of, physical resources is seen as a critical element in ensuring that the most is made of the physical environment within the Tees Valley. Working through the Community Sports Networks, the Partnership will support and influence investment decisions using an evidence based approach - knowing what the need is and how to respond to it.
