MRes Clinical ResearchAdvanced Clinical Research Designs and Analysis / RMH4071-N / TU OnlineDescriptionThe module is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to develop and undertake more complex research skills. These include data handling and data conversion and understanding measures of heterogeneity such as tau and I-squared. An understanding of meta-analysis techniques including fixed-effect and random effect meta-analysis. This module will also allow students to further explore the process of developing and evaluating complex interventions, including process evaluation. Data Management in Clinical Research / RMH4073-N / TU OnlineDescriptionThis module intends to provide students with a solid grounding in statistical concepts needed in analysing basic clinical and medical data. The indicative content provides an overview of the basic concepts in statistics. It leads students from understanding basic fundamentals up to multivariate analysis. Developing Research Projects / RMH4066-N / TU OnlineDescriptionThis module is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to design and manage a primary or secondary research, audit or evaluation project that is relevant to their practice. The module is targeted at any student wanting to develop their knowledge and skills in health or social care research. It also provides a preparation for the dissertation for students on master's courses. Students will develop skills in project design and management; primary and secondary research methods; audit and evaluation methods. The module will also cover research governance and ethics and prepare students for applying for ethical approval/release. Introduction to Clinical Research, Ethics and Governance / RMH4074-N / TU OnlineDescriptionSet within the context of Clinical Governance and Ethics this is a core module on the PGCert Clinical Research and Evidence Based Medicine, MRes Clinical Research and MCh suite of courses, and is the first module students will encounter. Engagement with the material in this module will ensure that students have a solid understanding of the basic premises of ethical clinical research, providing a solid foundation from which to build on as the course progresses. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the concept of clinical governance and the importance of evidence in a clinical context. To help ensure a good understanding of research outcomes the nature of data will be explored along with basic analysis techniques associated with a range of research designs. This will help to ensure that students are able to complete the more advanced modules that follow. To further facilitate successful completion of the course the concept of mastery and studying at level 7 will also be explored in the early weeks of the module. |
