Description
Set within the context of Clinical Governance and Ethics this is a core module on the PGCert Clinical Research and Evidence Based Medicine, MRes Clinical Research and MCh suite of courses, and is the first module students will encounter. Engagement with the material in this module will ensure that students have a solid understanding of the basic premises of ethical clinical research, providing a solid foundation from which to build on as the course progresses. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the concept of clinical governance and the importance of evidence in a clinical context. To help ensure a good understanding of research outcomes the nature of data will be explored along with basic analysis techniques associated with a range of research designs. This will help to ensure that students are able to complete the more advanced modules that follow. To further facilitate successful completion of the course the concept of mastery and studying at level 7 will also be explored in the early weeks of the module.
